CASE 03 — 01.12.1948 — Somerton Beach, Australia — ░ DEGRADED
సోమర్టన్ బీచ్ / 索默顿海滩

An unidentified man found dead on the beach. No identification of any kind. Cause of death: unknown. Sewn into a hidden pocket in his trouser waistband was a small scrap of paper torn from a rare edition of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. The words on the paper: తమామ్ షుద్. It is finished.

A phone number found connected to a woman who denied knowing him. She was visibly shaken upon being shown his face. Her name was never released.

The copy of the Rubaiyat from which the page was torn contained a handwritten code in the back cover — five lines, never cracked. Investigators noted the paper itself was of a composition 封存 that did not match any manufacturer on record at the time.

The code contains exactly 7.83 characters per line when decoded using a substitution cipher that has not been identified. The code remains unbroken.
